My Fujifilm FinePix S5200 won’t turn on?

I have a Fujifilm FinePix S5200 camera and when I put it in the take a picture mode it shuts itself off. The batteries are new and it has been plugged into the a/c adapter for several hours. Is there an internal battery that needs to be replaced? Has anyone had this problem and how did you resolve it? They want between $75 and $150 to repair it plus shipping. I’ll try to repair it myself is someone can give me some insight as to how to do it.

If I remember correctly (too lazy to look it up) the 5200 takes 4 x ‘AA’ batteries and has a 3 position power switch, off, review and take photo. All my advice after that depends on that assumption being correct.

I am still betting that this is a battery problem. I have the S7000 and the S9500, and the batteries are the only thing that get up my nose.

Go and buy one set of Lithium non-rechargeable batteries and try them to see if the problem goes away. They are a little expensive but still I think it’s worth a try.

If you find out it is batteries, I think you need to replace your rechargeables. I eventually gave up on rechargeable batteries in mine and just use lithium batteries.

Neither of mine have any other internal battery. Believe me I pulled the 9500 completely to pieces once to fix the famous broken command dial problem!
