Unfortunately, the economy is down in the dumps and you may not have a lot of money for Halloween costumes for this year’s parties and events. These 7 cheap Halloween costumes for adults are the answer for anyone looking to save a few bucks this year and still have a great Halloween!

Cheap Halloween Costume #1 – Men and Women

Vampire

Not only is this a hugely popular costume this year due to the Twilight movie and books, it’s extremely inexpensive and easy to make. All you need are some black or dark clothes and:

• Fangs (very cheap in any Halloween costume store or drugstore)
• Fake blood (also easy to find and inexpensive)
• A cape. Pre-made ones are in the stores or make your own with a black sheet tied around your neck.

Cheap Halloween Costume #2 – Men

Invisible Man

If you own a business suit and own, or can borrow, a fedora/hat, this is not only cheap – it’s pretty unique and a little scary, just like the movie. If only I could become invisible in real life – the fun stuff I would do! The only stuff you’ll need if you have the suit and the hat will be:

• Gauze (wrap around head leaving a hole for the mouth and holes for the eyes (will be covered by sunglasses)
• Sunglasses – preferably wrap-around.
• Gloves

Cheap Halloween Costume #3 – Men

Tourist

If you own a Hawaiian shirt already, this is the costume for you! Wear your shirt with some shorts, black socks, and flip-flops/sandals (the black socks are essential). Being sickly pale is even better, so no need for a tan! Other details that are cheap and easy to get or borrow:

• Goofy sunhat
• Cameras on straps around your neck or a camcorder
• Zinc oxide on your nose.
• Sunglasses

Cheap Halloween Costume #4 – Men

Incredible Hulk

This is the ideal costume for a muscular guy. All you need is an old pair of pants/jeans and an old long-sleeved shirt and some green body/face paint. Shred/rip the sleeves of the shirt and shred the bottoms of the jeans like you’re bursting out of them. Paint yourself green and you’re good to go!

Cheap Halloween Costume #5 – Women

Witch

This is one of my favorite go-to costumes if I don’t have the time or the money to figure something else out. Every woman in the world owns a little black dress, so slip that baby on and pair it with these cheap or already-owned accessories:

• A broom (you probably already own one)
• A cheap witch’s hat from the drugstore’s costume aisle – usually under $5

Cheap Halloween Costume #6 – Women

Goddess

If you have some spare white sheets lying around, make them into a toga, wear some flowers in your hair, put some sparkles on your face and body (there are lots of cheap spray-on sparkles and other sparkly cosmetics in the drugstore), and fluff your hair. You’re a goddess! Make a wreath of ivy leaves to wear on your head if you’re in the mood (not essential, just a touch).

Cheap Halloween Costume #7 – Women

Black Cat

You probably have some tight black pants or opaque black tights lying around. Pair them with a black sweater and add these extras:

• A cheap tail and ears (usually come in one package) from the costume section of your local drugstore or Halloween costume store.
• Black eyeliner to make a nose, whiskers, and to darken your eyes.
