Camera Sensor Cleaner



Can anyone recommend a very good camera sensor cleaner that doesn’t cost the price of a camera?

I use the Copperhill Imaging system. You need the 18mm Sensor Swipe for the 1Ds Mk.II sensor. (see the first URL)

So at the very least you need:
1) Giotto (or Giotto type) blower for cleaning the sensor and its the ONLY tool you should use on focusing screen and mirror.

2) If you have stubborn dust (which you will if you change lens often or have never cleaned your sensor) then you will proceed with WET cleaning using the copperhill system. You will use the 18mm sensor sweep, wrap some PecPads on them and put 1-2 drops of Eclipse solution on it and then proceed with cleaning in the way suggested in the instructions.

3) Now they don’t talk much about VALIDATING your cleaning. And you need to make sure your cleaning work. I use the “Photoshop Method” described in the last section of the second link.

4) If you have dust in the corners that are difficult to get to use a Qtip and wrap a pec pad around it and repeat step 2.

Note: If you have NEVER cleaned your sensor you WILL be intimidated but once you have done it a couple of times you will realize that its VERY easy and its MUCH CHEAPER to buy a good kit and clean hundreds of time for the SAME money that you would pay for ONE store cleaning.
