Canon EF 28-80mm lens compatible with digital?

I currently have a Canon Rebel EOS 35mm camera that came with a Canon 28-80mm lens. When taken off, it says Canon Zoom Lens EF 1:3.5-5.6 II 58 mm under the cap. My question is I want to upgrade to digital, but want to know if this is compatible with a new Canon Rebel digital camera? Thanks!
