Are Nikon and Canon body caps interchangeable?

I want to start doing a little pinhole digital photography, but i’m finding it rather hard to get a hold of a Nikon body cover for my camera, There’s a Canon retailer nearby, so if the caps are interchangeable, i’d buy Canon caps and start my project.

no they are not because canon mount is bigger and screws in the opposite direction.
