why won’t my Memory Card work on my blackberry pearl?

i bought a 4gb microSDHC card for my blackberry pearl 8130 and it won’t work. i’ve tried going to “format card” in media card options but when i try to format it says “media card format failed”. now i’m pretty sure the 4gb card should be compatible but i’m obviously missing something here.

Try formatting it in the computer first.

Verify you are using at least OS 4.2.1 by going to Options > About (3rd line down will show OS version).

OS versions prior to this will not support 4gb.
