Canon Eos Rebel XS will not connect to computer properly?

Recently I tried to put my pictures from my Canon Rebel XS onto my PC. I plugged in the USB cord as I usually do. It says BUSY on the LCD monitor but after about 8 seconds it disappears and my computer does not recognize that anything is plugged into it. Now I can’t put my pictures onto my PC.

This has happened to me once before, and after I searched all over the internet I could not find anything that helped me. A week later, it randomly started working again. I have no idea how it got fixed, but it was completely random after I hopelessly tried transferring pictures.

Anyways, this time it hasn’t been working so I’m slightly panicking.

PLEASE help, this is driving me insane.

I would second that recommendation. I have three different styles of cards and a Rebel XS like yours. I have no extra upload software installed just a viewer.

I use readers for all three of my card styles with no trouble at all.
Windows sees a reader as a drive. You can copy / paste your photo files into any folder you like with no trouble.
