What is the difference between a 10mp point and shoot canon and a Canon Eos Rebel XSi?
yes i know there will be differences, but please list them, and if its seems technical please include a simple explanation because i am not yet familiar with camera jargon yet. i have the point and shoot camera at the moment but i want to get a better quality camera and i have been recommended an entry-level DSLR. the canon EOS Rebel XSi has been recommended to me. i want to take portrait shots of models, people i know etc. thanks
Generally, with DSLRs:
*The time between pressing the shutter button and the camera taking the picture(shutter lag) is practically instantaneous on the XSi. On the point and shoot, the time can be as much as a second or two. This is a massive advantage for shooting action.
*Shooting indoors or in low light will be much better on the XSi, since the sensor chip where it captures images is several times larger than the one on the point and shoot and the individual pixels are less crammed together, so images in low light will come out less speckled and cleaner.
*Autofocus is much faster, which is also a massive advantage for shooting action.
There’s a lot more, but in general, image quality will be significantly better.
