Canon EOS 1000D

This intelligent Canon EOS 400D comes with many user friendly options. This SLR camera comes with a resolution of 10.1 megapixel to give you images that last forever.

Design

Compact and light weight, it weighs little over 500 grams. The design is pretty similar to Canon 350D camera. The colors available are black or metallic silver. The anti static coating on the filter helps prevent dust from entering in. A piece adhesive round the sensor helps in grabbing the dust surrounding. It also grabs dust from entering the chassis of Canon 400D camera.

Controls

The controls placement is similar to Canon 350D camera. The only point where the controls might pose you some problem is the large power switch which can be flipped while you put your Canon EOS 400D camera in your Camera Bag. The bright side is that they have improved the thumb rest, something which is problem in Canon EOS 350 D camera. Some aspects of the design have also improved to give a good shooting experience.

Key Features

The LCD display size is 2.5 inches. But on a down side this LCD display does not include ISO speed, white balance and battery level. But on the other hand the status display is exceptionally helpful and very simple to read and understand. Also you can change all the relevant settings from this LCD status display only. The pictures are in JPEG and RAW format. You get nine point auto focus and AI servo auto focus for moving subjects. This camera has manual and semi manual settings and automatic exposure modes. These are very useful features. However spot meter is lacking in this camera. It can be a problem while shooting in tricky light situations.

Performance

While shooting for JPEG images, you can upto 27 frames, while ten frames of RAW images can be clicked in continuous shooting mode. The noise suppression is a bit of a problem. This is due to the fact that instead of using Digic III, Canon EOS 350D uses Digic II chipset. But the image stabilization and a quite motor make up for this drawback. The color rendition in Canon EOS 400D’s images is excellent. The white balance is accurate too.

Accessories

The accessories for Canon EOS 1000D is just the same as for Canon EOS 350D camera.

Conclusion

This is a good Digital SLR if you are buying one for the first time.
