Some Green Screen Help?

me and my friend are hoping to start making youtube videos but we really want/need a green screen. I've looked it up on amazon.co.uk and there is only one and it's £39.99. This is fine but is there anything else i need to get with it? how exactly does it work? how is it set up, where can i get software .. etc please educate me haha

I started making green screen videos (a.k.a. using the chroma key effect) for YouTube earlier this year, learning the process from online tutorials. The three main aspects are backdrop, lighting and editing software.

For a backdrop, I use a green flannel bed sheet; although, buying a professional quality muslin one is a good idea.

I edit with Sony Vegas Pro 8.0, a higher end program costing a few hundred dollars. Wax 2.0 is a free non-linear editor available online capable of video compositing.

Lighting is the most crucial--and most difficult--step. You need the backdrop to be evenly lit, making the green color range narrow so that keying it out is possible. Ideally, you're going to light your subject and background separately, so as to remove any shadows that will ruin the effect. Trust me, you're not going to get this right the first time around; it takes experimentation.
