Can an indoor security camera be effectively used to monitor outdoor activity through a window?

Hello

The short answer is no

The glass lowers the image quality in perfect lighting
You get glare meaning the camera will see white nothing else
The only way to see through a window durring the day in using a WDR or an XDR camera perefibly both as well as BLC back light compensation which many claim to have but very few work well.

For outdoors you want an IR camera so that you can see at night (very rarely does existing lighting work well)

For IR cameras the light bounces off the window creating glare so you cant see a thing.

For outdoors you want an outdoor camera.

Ascendent Group

Ascendent OEM and private labels for other manufactures and I know in the pas they manufactured integrals DVR.

Ascendent’s Ione camera series meets all the specs you have listed above 600TVL 700TLV at night, WDR and XDR, 50-50C with either IP67 or IP68 housing.

It is the only VRD Vanadal Resistant Dome I know of that has a 6-50mm lens and active IR.

They even offer better performance then the Bosch extreme series best cameras on the market in my option and there a little bit less then Bosch.
