Best lens for close up flower photography? I have a Canon 400D?

Hiya, as above, im looking for a fab lens suitable to creatively advertise flowers and plants with. I currenty have a f/1.4 50mm and a 17-85 in my kit. The lens would be used for fine detail and extreme close up work. Ie: capturing detail in petals

ps:Any hints and tips for a ‘starter outer’ professional photographer would be greatly appreciated.

a canon 100mm f 2.8 macro or canon 200mm with macro ,
200mm will give you more scope and versatile , but also check out sigma range as well , you would also be wise to get a ring flash also as it is for your subjects , you could also fit a polariser circular this will help punch colours out , deepen saturation , also use of tripod slower shutter speeds and experiment with apetures f 16 / f22 for greater depth of field(detail) this you will need to experiment with , a light reflector would be usefull to bounce light on to shadow areas, you can make your own, with a sheet of white polystyrene / sheet of hard board covered in foil , check out some books on close up / still life / macro . if you intend shooting out of doors consider making a tempory wind break again you can make this good luck and enjoy
