What type of polaroid camera should i buy to use with a certain type of film?

I am new to using Polaroid Cameras and I don’t know much about what film and cameras are supposed to be used together. I want to do image transfers without having to buy a daylab. I heard that u can use peel apart film and peel it while its developing so i was looking to buy fuji fim 100 or polaroid 669, 559, 59, 809. I would like to know what type of polaroid camera can be used with these types of film.

The cameras that you’re seeking are the Land Cameras 100 Series, 200 Series, 300 Series, and 400 Series, as well as others including The Reporter.

One thing to remember is that Image Transfers proper will require you to be right by where you will be transfering the image onto. Image Transfers can be a bit touchy because you need to peel the image apart in the first 5-10 seconds of development and place the negative onto the receptor in relative darkness and have a roller nearby. If the image develops completely, all of the dyes will be transfered to the paper, not onto the receptor. The roller is used because it’s pressure as well as heat that loosens the dyes.

For something you can do without such time constraints would be Emulsion Lifts – with those you need to let the film develop completely, and cut off the white border and place it into boiling water which will loosen the emulsion (image layer) from the glue holding it on the paper. I could go more into it, but I feel I may have already been a tad too verbose.

And by the way, bravo on trying something else. Emulsion Lifts and image transfers are techniques that have no real similar process to digital. Digital’s not quite the end all be all of photography – not saying that it’s bad, but there are still plenty of effects and techniques that certain types of film can do, like layering images onto solid 3d surfaces.

Edit: The Above cameras (Land Camera 100, 200, 300 and 400 Series) can use Fuji’s FP-100C, FP-100B (Black and white), and FP-3000B (Black and White). There will be a slight bit of adjustments required because FP-100C is rated at 100 ISO, and good ol’ Polaroid Type 669 was rated at 75 ISO, but it’s not too difficult to adjust. I know this as fact because for this year’s Emulsion Lift Projects that I’ve been doing were all shot with my Polaroid Land Camera 100 using FP-100C (I like to call it “Fujiroid).
