Is a Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery pack for a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 long lived enough for travel use?
I’m interested in buying the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8. My only hesitation is the battery pack it uses. It doesn’t look like I can just slip in long life AA batteries. I’m afraid if I’m traveling where the current isn’t reliable I’ll find myself without a way to recharge. Is there anybody managing a similar situation?
According to the specification, the battery life of the DMC-FZ8 is rated for 380 shot when fully charged. But since condition may vary (if someone took a very long time to compose with the LCD display on etc) and Lithium Ion tends to degrade in capacity over the year, I’m guessing that it’ll be less than the specified number.
In my opinion, it wouldn’t hurt if you bought a spare battery for your camera – I believe you can buy it at a camera shop. I bought a second battery for my 400D in a camera shop too so I’m sure they have it.
